Vision is your view on the future of how business you want to be seen by customers, employees, and other parties concerned. Vision is designed to inspire and motivate those who have an interest in the future of your business/store. So we have an ideal picture in the long run on our store that can spur us to continue to actively achieve it.
We can start an instance vision formulation with selecting certain aspects to be achieved in the future. Vision can also emphasizes the aspects of customer service. Retail world today is a world that is customer driven. Everything determined by customer needs. So, you should not choose something that you want to sell, but be sure to provide customers with what they need.
You should have a good vision that was developed to give something unique, different, and not owned by the closest competitor. Your store no need to beat all similar stores, because it will eliminate all your energy.
The following steps can be used as a guide in formulating the vision of the store (remember that vision is how the store would like to see in the future.)
1. What do you see as the key to success in the future?
2. What unique contribution would you do in your store?
3. How should your position to the customer's, the overall market, technology, quality products, and employees?
4. What greatest opportunities do you see the to make your store grow?
Here is an example of a vision of "Store A " that sells clothing for adult men based on the above steps, namely:
"We'll be the first choice among the adult males of middle to upper in buying fashion products in this area, because the product being sold is following the trend as well as good quality at affordable prices."
It can be seen that the word's “first choice” is something that is probably far away to reach, even it could be something impossible. But it spurred the spirit of the owner and store employees to continue working as possible.
Like the mission statement, you need to communicate your vision ito all parties associated with the store, and posted it in the workspace, shopping bags, posters, etc., and expressed in every meeting.
